With over a decade of experience at the Department of Homeland Security, Marcus currently serves as a Construction Program Strategist Analyst for a local fuel company. His professional journey reflects a commitment to excellence, problem-solving, and strategic innovation. Deeply invested in his Ward 8 community, Mick has dedicated himself to uplifting residents through impactful initiatives.
As the founder of MickNation, LLC, his nonprofit has partnered with DC Public Schools to sponsor back-to-school supplies and provide meals to low-income families for the past four years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mick further demonstrated his passion for youth empowerment by creating the “Leaders of the World Read” book club, engaging children ages 7-11 in literacy and leadership development.
As an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, Mick’s mission is to continue serving Ward 8 by collaborating with local and federal agencies to craft policies that address the community’s most pressing needs. His leadership is rooted in advocacy, equity, and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing his constituents. Mick is also member of the Ward 8 Schools and Libraries Committee where he serves as Chairman, ensuring youth, young adults, and seniors are met with literacy programs, technology upgrades, and policies that will enhance their knowledge, skills and awareness. When he’s not working or volunteering, Marcus enjoys connecting with his neighbors, mentoring youth, and contributing to the vibrant culture of his hometown.
