Last year, in 2024, District Line Development filed a BZA project to convert a five-unit apartment building on 28th Street SE into a 19-unit apartment building with only five parking spaces, one of which was designated for residents with disabilities. At the time, the Commission decided to wait until the new year, allowing the newly elected commissioner to be sworn in and to engage her constituents on the matter.
In January 2025, Commissioner Betty Scippio was officially sworn in as Commissioner for 8B02, the district where this proposed project is located. Commissioner Scippio has since recommended postponing the project to ensure she has adequate time to familiarize herself with the details and advocate effectively on behalf of her constituents.
